   An engine, at last: Jugnu runs on Llama. Every entry below this one ends "still no engine" — that line is retired. What the engine does not change is the fingerprint: Apne mode still refuses the answer, and the refusal is enforced in the product, not requested of the model. Open and load-bearing: whether Llama runs on the device or behind an API decides the COPPA answer, since a student's photographed homework and typed essays are the input either way.

2. Aug 2026

   A monster maker: rather than a photo, a student can build one of Jugnu's cousins — chunky furry creatures with paw pads, horns and glossy eyes, 60,480 combinations of generated inline SVG, with the catalogue showing your own creature wearing each option. Eyes and eyewear are generated from one geometry table, so a three-eyed monster gets three lenses. Two more paper colours, and the date line came off the home screen. Nineteen screens.

3. Aug 2026

   Profiles: a photo from the phone's gallery and a legal name taken in the quiz — both on the device and nowhere else. Jugnu greets by first name now. Eighteen screens. Noted against the real build: a child's legal name is COPPA-covered personal information and is collected before the consent beat, which production has to invert.

4. Aug 2026

   The notebook became real: it starts empty, a session is saved only when the student says yes, and the summary is composed from what actually happened — never the answer. Tap a save for the method and how it went, and run the problem again from there. Real captures now pause on a review — use this photo, or not this one. Seventeen screens; the lock re-verified across every new path.

5. Aug 2026

   Ask-anything landed: typed questions in any subject with live detection, photo subject chips, and generic coaching — essays get a Grammar pass that never writes a line. Onboarding built: sign-up with a verification code, the Are-you-a-kid parent link with school-level rules (gone above high school, optional for high schoolers, required younger, consent simulated honestly), a quiz that tunes Jugnu's register, and a firefly guided tour. Fifteen screens; the Apne lock re-verified across all of it.

6. Aug 2026

   Tutor renamed Jugnu — the firefly: a small light that cannot flood the page — and the lock mode named Apne. Settings screen added: start page, theme, background. Nine screens now, still no engine.

7. Aug 2026

   Thesis written and eight-screen prototype built — capture, both modes, the scripted beg Jugnu refuses, the shrinkage notebook. Scores 0.5-for-4 on the studio screen, the folder's floor, and the ninth consecutive consumer venture at ~1-for-4 or below. Name is a working one.

   Built as the missing layer above the four instruments, not as a market bet — no thesis, no screen score, and last on the board for that reason. It exists because the studio could measure its floor, its people and its reads, and could not say what any of that was in service of. First honest test is whether it survives a month of use, which the four instruments below it have not yet had.
